Stacy Uchendu grew up in Houston,Texas as the youngest of five children in a large Nigerian-American family. Through the QuestBridge College Match, she attended Wesleyan University where she majored in Chemistry and fostered a sustaining interest in the reciprocal influence between science and society. Currently, Stacy is a Research Assistant at Yale School of Medicine. Her work inside and outside the lab revolve around improving health and well-being for marginalized communities and takes many forms such as researching disease mechanisms that disproportionately affect these groups, educating underserved families about nutrition, and advocating for better access to healthcare. She hopes to further her work in this area through pursuing a combined MD-PhD degree.
