Jessica Covil is a third-year PhD student in English at Duke, where she will also earn certificates in African & African American Studies and Gender, Sexuality, & Feminist Studies. Outside of graduate school, she enjoys spending time with her dearly-loved friends and partner, especially when music, movies, and/or coffee are involved. She regularly performs her own poetry at open mics in and around Durham; these poems explore family, sisterhood, trauma, hope, sex/sexuality, and politics.
