Erik grew up in Milwaukee, WI and was interested in computers from a young age. He hoped to attend an engineering-focused school, but scholarship considerations landed him at Wesleyan – a liberal arts school. Here, instead of only studying engineering, he had the unique opportunity to combine computer science and sociology majors. Ever since, he’s focused energy both at and away from work on how his identities extend beyond individual experience, mapping them onto larger societal patterns, and working to understand and repair the worst of these. While at Wes, Erik was a QuestBridge Liaison and summer intern. After graduating in 2015, he began as a software engineer at Apple where he still works. He lives in San Francisco and when not working or with friends he enjoys running, reading queer literature, and road trips.
